Human Trivia: What We Built leveraging WorldID at the Aleph Hackathon, Winning Us First Place on that track!

In August, we had the opportunity to take part in the Aleph Hackathon, organized by Crecimiento Argentina. During the event, we built an online trivia game.

Our First Hackathon Win

We spent an entire weekend hacking—it was the first time in two years that the Wakeup Labs team participated in a hackathon, and this was our first win. We were thrilled to dive into Worldcoin’s technology, and this hackathon provided the perfect opportunity to explore it.

What we built

Trivia games used to be a hit, but they’ve become easy targets for exploitation. People can simply use Google or AI to find answers, making it hard to keep the game fair for everyone. Add in the challenge of handing out prizes without bots swooping in to cheat, and the frequent lack of transparency in the few cases where monetary incentives are still involved. It’s no surprise that interest in these games has dropped off.

That’s where proof-of-humanness tech, like World ID, comes in. In a world full of bots, tools like this are crucial. On top of that, blockchain technology adds transparency to financial transactions, making it easier to see exactly where the money is going and what’s really happening behind the scenes. With over 10 million downloads, the World ID app has already proven its power. Combine that with our industry know-how, and we’re confident that we can create amazing products using it.

With this in mind, we created an online trivia game using the Worldcoin stack for the Aleph Hackathon.

The concept is straightforward: players pay an entry fee, tackle 12 questions, and get eliminated if they miss any. The players who answer all 12 correctly share the prize pool.

It’s amazing what a large, skilled team that knows each other can accomplish when working together non-stop for over 20 hours.

That’s why we want to give a huge shoutout to the #WakeUp Labs team (compuesto por Chris, Emi, Valen, Facu y Gonza), as well as the sponsors and organizers of the Aleph Hackathon, for making this possible!

We look forward to continuing to work with this technology stack, alongside our great partners, startups, and blockchains, as we have over the past two years. Our commitment remains to offer advanced technology at the forefront of innovation. Additionally, we invite anyone seeking to grow their ecosystem with high-quality development—whether through dev tools, custom client solutions, grants, or launching a product or protocol—to reach out for our support.
